Shaken & Afraid

Even on the coldest nights, you never are alone.

You’re lost, and oh so far away from home.

Even on the coldest nights, you never are alone.

Underneath your pain, underneath your rage,

far beyond the poisons that pulse through your veins.

There resides my baby brother, shaken and afraid.

Another year passes, another gathering, another Christmas has come and gone. Still, you’re never seen.

It breaks my heart to think of you, sleeping on the street.

Lost and cold and growing old, with nothing warm to eat.

I curse the poisons that you crave!

Underneath your pain, underneath your rage,

far beyond the poisons that pulse through your veins.

There resides my baby brother, shaken and afraid.
